ATTACK ON THE HIEI
Limited Edition print by military artist Robert Taylor
In Taylor's stunning painting, it's November 13, 1942 and Marine Ace Captain Joe Foss leads a flight of eight F4F Wildcats from VMF-121, in an attack on the Imperial Japanese battle cruiser Hiei. It's the Pacific Theater, north of Savo Island, Guadalcanal.
Later that evening, after relentless air attacks, the Hiei, disappears beneath the sea- the first Japanese battleship sunk by American Forces in World War 2.
This Limited Edition print is signed and numbered by the artist. And also signed by Medal of Honor recipient Captain Joe Foss and three of his surviving pilots.
