WW2 US Naval Amphibious Forces
This shoulder patch was the first of its kind to be authorized by the U.S. Navy. It was worn by personnel who had trained in amphibious warfare and included naval combat demolition units, landing craft units, beach battalions and pathfinders.
The Naval Amphibious Forces transported soldiers and Marines to shore and played a key role in WW2 during the D-Day beach landings under brutal enemy fire.
And later in the Pacific Theater, getting troops ashore at Leyte Gulf, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and on many other islands.
