The most exclusive club in the world has only two members, Erich Hartmann and Gerhard Barkhorn. They were the only two fighter pilots in history to each down more than three hundred aircraft in aerial combat. Their record still stands today.
During WW2 Hartmann scored 352 kills. This included seven American-flown Mustangs and 345 aircraft of the Soviet Air Force on the Eastern Front.
Barkhorn's 301 kills were all Russian-flown aircraft downed on the Eastern Front. For a time, these two successful fighter pilots flew together with JG-52 against Russia.
They both survived the war.
